Our 3-6 Year Old "Lil' Ranger" program is designed to teach our youngest students various life skills that will benefit them both within the studio and most importantly in life. Through structured play and learning our youngest members acquire the following skills:
Develop Motor Skills. While the students are having fun with games, relays and other training tools, they are developing motor skills and coordination. These motor skills will include, but not be limited to, coordination skills, balance, flexibility, muscle strength, timing, mobility and more. Some activities, while not directly related to Martial Arts, will contribute to the Martial Arts techniques being learned. The motor skills learned in class will be a great benefit to the student, both inside and outside of the school, benefiting the child in a wide range of physical activities.
Develop Social Skills. The class is a great place for our youngest members to learn and develop social skills. Students will learn to show respect towards other students and adults. They will learn to work with other students and staff, take turns, share, communicate and a myriad of other valuable skills that will help them in life, and prepare them to succeed in school.
Promote Self-Confidence. Our students learn self-confidence, one of the most important life skills for a successful person. They learn to be confident in themselves and their abilities, they learn that failure is not something to be feared, but a tool to better oneself. They learn to be positive and optimistic and most importantly with this confidence they learn how to persevere and succeed in academics, sports and life in general.
Promote Self-Discipline. There is a difference between a 3-6 year old and a 12 year old. We try to make classes fun and exciting, as at the ages of our youngest students, this is how they learn-they learn through play. However, at times there is no escaping some reputation and just plain old hard work. This serves a dual purpose, helping the children learn the so-called "nuts and bolts" and teaches them Self-Discipline. Our students learn principles such as impulse control, delayed gratification, respect, patience, self-control, planning and organization. These tools prepare them to succeed in both Martial Arts related activities and activities outside the school.
Develop learning skills. Learning involves a combination of mental, physical and emotional attributes. Our goal is to encourage the development of these attributes by developing a child's listening skills, ability to follow directions and through physical coordination. This is accomplished through positive reinforcement and encouragement.
Child Safety and Danger Awareness. Our youngest members will learn valuable rules to follow when dealing with strangers, how and when to dial 911, how to answer the phone and doors, how to avoid potentially dangerous situations and how to get help before it is too late! In addition, they will learn basic self-defense techniques and when to use those techniques. They will be instructed on when it is okay to use Martial Arts and when it is not.
Ready to Graduate into Our Junior's Program. The Lil' Ranger classes will prepare our young students for the time when they will graduate into the more structured junior's program. Many of our most successful and dedicated juniors started in the Ranger's program when they were just 4 or 5 years old. This program gives them a head start in the world of Martial Arts and towards achieving the rank of Black Belt. |
